SORTING

Sorting activities are a great opportunity for a child to analyze the differences, similarities and logic to make the right choice. It helps children in various areas such as in their logical thinking, reasoning, problem-solving, fine motor skills and numeracy as well.

Wooden Cylinder Sockets

Classifying the wooden cylinder sockets according to their sizes needs analyzing skill and understanding the logic. Holding the knob with the fingers will strengthen their the muscles and bone. It also helps a child to improve their hand and eye coordination.

Wooden Puzzles

Sorting the puzzles repetitively will increase the child’s memory power and their language skills as well, at an early age.

Wooden Cylinder Socket Board

Raeyan tried grouping the same colours and slotted them accordingly.

Wooden Blocks

The shapes were drawn with colours and Rae was to identify the similar shapes and colours from the wooden blocks, and match them with the drawings accordingly.

Empty bottles and thick colored papers.

Learning through hands-on activities helps children to remember the task that they have done. I prepared the empty bottles and cut out the coloured papers into square shapes. To make the coloured papers thicker and easier to be picked, I glued them on the cardboard before cutting them into pieces. It was easy for Rae to pick the colourful squares one by one and insert them specifically into the right container by following the colour coding, pasted on the container lids.
